The 2011 White House Christmas Ornament celebrates the life and administration of our 26th President Theodore Roosevelt. Roosevelt was born to a wealthy New York City family on October 27, 1858 and is most remembered for starting to build the Panama Canal and winning a Nobel Peace Prize for mediating an end to the Russo-Japanese War.
President Theodore Roosevelt was also known as a devote family man whose children, all six of them – Alice, Theodore Jr., Kermit, Ethel, Archibald, and Quentin – brought excitement to The White House. The 2011 White House Theodore Roosevelt ornament depicts the Roosevelt family discovering a Christmas Tree that young Archie had hidden inside The White House. On the reverse side of the 2011 White House Ornament there is a winter, Christmas scene illustrating Santa Claus walking on the North Lawn proclaiming, “I hear there are some kids in the White House this year.”
